Historical heritage
A riding school founded by Antoine de Pluvinel, who taught Kings Henry III, Henry IV and Louis XIII the art of equitation, stood on this site in the 16th and 17th centuries.
Opened in 1900 for the World’s Fair by Mr Léonard Tauber and his associate, Mr Constant Baverez, the hotel takes place in a Second Empire building, in the former Louvre Royal stables.
Created by art lovers and patrons, the Regina opened in time for the 1900 Universal Exhibition and is still managed by the Baverez family, which founded it.
Mr Tauber was reputed for his profound aesthetic sense, his modern views on hospitality and comfort. His passion for arts gathered around his project the best artists and the most talented craftsmen of his time to make a beautiful dream come true.
Nowadays, the Baverez family perpetuates the tradition and calls upon the best French specialists to restore and look after the property.
The Regina remains the most exquisite Art Nouveau hotel in Paris. The hotel blends three architectural styles that give the building its harmonious and elegant silhouette: the arcades, typical of the rue de Rivoli, the sober façade with its balconies, and the Empire-style roof.
