The Château de Villiers-le-Mahieu 4*, was built in the 13th Century and was originally a fortress. But over the centuries and under different owners, its function changed somewhat. The Marquis of Attily rebuilt it in 1642, and under his stewardship it gained the status of a château. After him, a number of owners oversaw the château, up to the Count Charles de Rohan Chabot, who restored it, giving it its present appearance. Its charm was what attracted the painter Bernard Buffet, who lived in the château until 1979.
Since 1981, Jean-Luc Chaufour has been using his passion for old buildings and for history to help restore and adapt this magisterial site, so that guests feel right at home in this superb four-star Château-Hotel and its breathtaking, otherworldly setting.

Today, the Château and its three annexes house 93 spacious and comfortable rooms, all of which give a unique view of the estate and the park.

Spacious and full of charm, each of the 93 bedrooms has a unique style, yet they are all equipped with the most modern facilities. They all overlook the château’s tree-lined park.
The estate’s 93 rooms are in one of three categories – deluxe, prestige or royal – but all of them have a rich ambiance you will fall in love with. They are spread out around the Château and its annexes, la Bellangerie, la Fresnaye and the Spa. They all offer luxurious comfort with an intimate ambiance, but each one has a unique character to reflect the feel of the building where it is situated. This means that the Château de Villiers-le-Mahieu has an elegant style, but not a uniform one: each building has its own atmosphere.

Restaurants & Bar
For breakfast, a varied and high-end buffet is available.
For lunch and dinner, the traditional elegant restaurant has a delicious menu focusing on local and in-season products. The chef, Christophe HIS reworks dishes, ensuring they are light but still sophisticated.
If you are looking for a snack or just want to have a quick drink, guests can experience a cosy and subdued atmosphere at the Lounge Bar, which opens out onto a terrace.
In summer or winter, mealtimes are your chance to take a break and enjoy some food in a setting that suits the time of year and meets your needs. So have your meal by the warmth of a crackling fire, on a sunny terrace with a view over the park and its flowers, at an exquisite guest table, or in the intimate surroundings of the Lounge Bar.
From November to April you can have dinner at the Table du Château every Saturday evening, and discover the new restaurant at the heart of the Château, while enjoying traditional cuisine adapted for today (casseroles, terrines, puff pastries).

Designed by architect Jean-Philippe Nuel, famous for his renowned creations, the Spa at the Château de Villiers-le-Mahieu stretches over 700m² and boasts simple lines and harmonious colours, as well as quality materials (slate, glass and wood), all bathed in beautiful and soft natural light.
