Donna Camilla Savelli 4*

Rome, Italy

Hotel's website
A Baroque oasis in the heart of Rome in the lively Trastevere district. Designed and built by Francesco Borromini, Donna Camilla Savelli is housed inside a 17th-century convent. In fact, it was in 1642 that the Farnese noblewoman Camilla Savelli commissioned the architect to build the convent of Santa Maria dei Sette Dolori and the adjacent church of the same name. The Cloister, the Refectory, and the Roman Grotto from the 1st century AD, retain the memory of past eras intact and make Donna Camilla Savelli the only structure of its kind.
Following a meticulously studied restoration aimed at safeguarding the Baroque architecture, Donna Camilla Savelli reopened its doors to the public in 2008. Today it continues to offer guests a home where they can enjoy a Roman holiday surrounded by beauty, art and amazement.
