Welcome to Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam, an historical site. In quite a unique manner, the history of Amsterdam is reflected in the past and present of this building.
Furnished with French elegance and grandeur, the hotel welcomes a variety of visitors, from the trendy Amsterdam elite to royal brides and famous international movie stars. In each of the rooms, the Michelin star restaurant bridges, the halls and the beautiful garden terrace, poetry and history aptivates and seduces everyone into visiting.
French elegance in Dutch cultural heritage
In June 2010 The Grand became the second Sofitel Legend address in the world and the first Sofitel Legend in Europe, joining the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoï in Vietnam. The French architect Sybille de Margerie drew much of her stylish design inspiration from the lively colours of the famous mural by COBRA artist Karel Appel, which is displayed in the restaurant area. She also used natural, luxurious materials, such as mahogany, marble and stalwart steel. The hotel is now a blend of French elegance and Dutch style elements. The tulip and the butterfly are recurring themes and the natural light is given all the space it needs in order to show its magic within this city palace. The rich history is incorporated into the new architectural details in
many ways.
Rooms & Suites
The students of the Design Academy of Eindhoven used images of legendary persons from the history of the building as a source of inspiration: their creative contribution with historical influences is draped across the 177 rooms including 52 suites with Butler Service. Your personal butler will welcome you upon arrival and will escort you to your suite, making sure all has been taking care of.
