Built in the 19th-century, this luxurious palace is nestled on a hilltop overlooking the Tagus River and presents guests with the ideal base for an unforgettable stay in Lisbon.

Tucked away in the city's diplomatic quarter, Lapa Palace is set in a beautiful sub-tropical garden. Sunbathe on a lounger in the pool area or pay a visit to the Spa, where you can treat yourself to hours of relaxation in the sauna.

Right after the earthquake in 1755, the first Baron of Porto Covo, Jacinto Fernandes Bandeira, built his house in S. Domingos Street, starting the creation of the Lapa district. Lapa means Moorish rock, from the original name “Lapa das Mouras”.
Approximately 115 years later, in 1870, the succeeding Viscount built for one of his sons a beautiful house in the Lapa District. Very disappointed that his son didn’t like it, the house was later sold to the Count of Valenças, who in 1883 decided to transform it into a Palace.

The Hotel is divided into three different sections, Palace Wing, Garden Wing and Villa Lapa with a total of 109 rooms. The rooms and suites of the new wing have been redecorated with Portuguese style fabrics and furniture and different the decoration on every floor.
Every room and suite in the Palace has a different style; you will find Art deco, Colonial, Algarvian and Neo-Classic styles.

At Lapa Restaurant you can find delicious traditional dishes from Italy served in an elegant ambiance, with an excellent service.
The Pool Restaurant, Le Pavillon, opened during the summer months, offering unique cocktails, home made iced teas and fresh fruit juices around the pool. Open for lunch, serving a selection of sandwiches, fresh fish and seafood as well as light snacks and a wide selection of salads.
The bright Rio Tejo Bar is one of the most beautiful retreats in the city, ideal for a business meeting and an informal drink on the terrace overlooking the Tagus River. For the afternoon, Rio Tejo Bar has a tea menu to propose to you, offering a variety of 42 different types of tea selected from countries such as India, China, Vietnam and Japan. It has indoor and outdoor seating and is open from 10:30 am until 1:30 am. Live piano music is starting at 7 pm from Monday to Saturday.

Outdoor pool, amidst beautiful and tranquil gardens dotted with ornamental fountains and streams, is heated from May to September at 25º Celsius in summer. A small children pool is also availabe close to the main pool. From the beginning of April to the end of September the pool is fully serviced and Le Pavilion restaurant offers the possibility of having a light meal or a drink by the pool, from 10 am to 7 pm.
Indoor pool offers a quiet setting with natural daylight and is heated at a temperature of 28º Celsius the full year. It is located in the Spa on the 3rd floor of the Garden Wing and is easily acessible by the rooms. A changing room is available, opening hours are from 8 am to 8 pm.
Sauna is located by the indoor pool and is available from 8 am until 8 pm. Aromatic oils and natural essences are used in sauna to enhance and revitalize your wellbeing. The Turkish bath is located in the changing rooms of indoor pool and functions from 8 am to 8 pm. This is a unisex space. Revitalizing eucalyptus natural essences are used in a steam room.
Spa offers the possibility of exercise in fully equipped gymnasium featuring modern equipment including cardio fitness control. The Gymnasium is open from 6.30 am until 10 pm, and assistance with the exercise machines and equipment is available from 10 am until 6 pm.
The ancient art of massage induces relaxation, promotes healing and helps restore and maintain optimal health. It uses a combination of techniques to improve blood and lymph circulation. From 10 am to 6 pm the Spa offers massages of the highest standard by trained massage therapists skilled at tailoring treatments to suit the individual client.
