Nira Alpina 4*S

Silvaplana, Switzerland

Hotel's website
Nira Alpina, a 4* Superior hotel situated in the Swiss ski resort of St. Moritz, is connected to the Corvatsch cable car station via a private walkway. Within this hotel, winter or summer, you’ll find warm, heartfelt service and a cool, quirky style – it is not a typical St. Moritz hotel. You’ll sense an ambiance that’s buzzy, bordering on Bohemian... the Swiss spa resort is for worldly, well-travelled individuals.
This Engadin accommodation is perched at the highest point in the small village of Surlej, just five kilometres from St. Moritz. Unlike a normal St.Moritz hotel, Nira Alpina provides ski in, ski out access, as it is connected to the Corvatsch cable car station via a private walkway. You can ascend to 3,303 metres, the highest point in the ski domain, in just fifteen minutes.
In summer, the adjoining cable car leads to spectacular high-altitude hiking and biking trails. Among Corvatsch hotels, Nira Alpina is one of the closest to Lake Silvaplana, the famous venue for kitesurfing and windsurfing.

Accommodation
Why settle for a simple Alpine lodge, when you can stay in the stylish Nira Alpina hotel? All rooms and suites feature a large terrace or balcony and panoramic windows overlooking the Engadin mountains. Inside, the spacious accommodation at Surlej hotel is neither ostentatiously glitzy, nor traditionally folksy. Natural materials such as Swiss Spruce, Italian stone and suede are used and hi-tech amenities include a flat-screen TV showing 87 channels, an iPod docking station and free Wi-Fi. Each modern granite bathroom has a deep bath and waterfall shower.

Restaurants & Bars
St. Moritz restaurants are world-renowned. A typical meal might well include classic favourites from Thailand, India, Italy and Japan – a far cry from most Engadin restaurants. Taking a cue from the surroundings, the Nira Alpina cuisine is natural and fresh, with most ingredients farmed, caught, raised or bred within a few kilometres. Service is efficient and relaxed, delivered with unfussy charm.

• "Stars".
Shining by day and night, Stars is foodie heaven. On the top floor, with panoramic views of the lakes and mountains, Stars stands out in the St. Moritz constellation. It’s the venue for breakfast and dinner. The evening menu, featuring impeccably prepared international cuisine, takes you on a tour of the world’s culinary hotspots. International Classics such as Salmon Tataki, Crabcake, Entrecote of Swiss Prime Beef and Fregola Sarda are accompanied by sincere service with a dash of informality. Explore different regions with different elements of taste and let yourself be enchanted by the world of wines.
• "Trattoria".
A taste of tradition. The Trattoria serves typical Italian dishes. The authentic stubli surroundings, with natural stone floor, pine panelling and chunky wooden furniture, are just as traditional and cozy. Open for groups on request.
• Rooftop Bar.
Manoeuvre your way into a scenic spot as the resident DJ charts a path through his eclectic playlist. As you traverse the menu, explore the depths of a Jägermeister, sip champagne or savour a well-mixed Caipirinha. The panoramic view may be pure Swiss, but the food on the top floor is totally global. From Peru to Indonesia, from Japan to Thailand, the dishes keep coming, served with a touch of theatre. The ambiance here is hot…and not just because of the blazing open fire.
• Bakery.
From apple strudel to "Zopf", the traditional Swiss bread... the bread and pastries are being freshly baked every morning. Their enticing aroma will lead you to the in-house bakery. For a crisp and crunchy start to the day, call in for alpine bread or a Swiss chocolate croissant, then come back later for a raspberry and vanilla turnover or an apple lattice pastry. The fabulous cupcakes are always in demand, so stock up before you head for the cable car.
At Nira Alpina you are not woken up by your alarm clock, but by the tempting smell of fresh croissants homemade in the Nira Bakery. Want to take a look behind the scenes? Every Wednesday or on request you have the chance to join a baking lesson with the pastry chef.
• "Pichalain" après-ski-hut.
The PICHALAIN was built exclusively with Swiss timber taken from Swiss stone pine. It’s small but sweet and almost as romantic as a night spent in a mountain hut. The furnishing is rough and rustic with a smell of resin lingering in the air. Its table made from one single oak tree from the Tessin offers seating for up to 16 people, and a further 8 people can be seated at the bar.
In winter the "Pichalain" can be reserved exclusively for groups, events or just a nice dinner amongst friends. It’s for everyone who’s looking for that special something.
