7132 HOTEL 5*S
• 3 penthouse suites by Kengo Kuma 3 spa suites
• 12 spa deluxe rooms
• 3 double rooms
• 1 single room
The opening of the 7132 Hotel 5S gave Vals an iconic luxury hotel that sets new standards for this type of destination: In a luxurious yet lean style, three spa suites and twelve spa deluxe rooms with en-suite steam room were created as well as three double rooms and one single room. Bright colours and rare natural materials dominate the timeless design.
Each room comes with an unobstructed view of the alpine world surrounding the hotel. The top floor is taken up by three stunning penthouse suites of 90 square metres each, designed by the celebrated Japanese architect Kengo Kuma. The fully glazed frontages make the breath-taking view seem like a painted backdrop, so that the scenery outside almost becomes part of the interior.

7132 HOUSE OF ARCHITECTS
• 23 Kuma rooms
• 18 Ando rooms
• 10 Zumthor rooms
• 22 Mayne rooms
The 7132 House of Architects delivers what the name promises. Four internationally renowned architects were encouraged to develop their visions: Peter Zumthor, Tadao Ando, Kengo Kuma and Thom Mayne. Each room presents a different, visually appealing experience for design lovers. Inspiring. Surprising. Different.
After a day of exploring Vals, Peter Zumthor’s architectural masterpiece in Vals quartzite awaits – the 7132 Thermal Baths. The internationally acclaimed baths impress with simple elegance and timelessness that lets you forget it has been hosting bathers here for 25 years already.
The 7132 Thermal Baths are surrounded by the 7132 Hotel 5S with its various restaurants, the 7132 Blue Bar and a fitness room. All these facilities can conveniently be reached via a glassed-in passageway from the 7132 House of Architects.
Peter Zumthor created ten rooms in stucco lustro, a plastering technique from the Italian Renaissance that offers a refreshingly sensuous experience through the chosen hues of red, black and yellow and through the combination with hand- painted curtains made of Habotai silk.
Kengo Kuma relied on Japanese carpentry to turn the 23 rooms he designed into cosy oakwood cocoons. An open floor-level shower resting on a base of local granite sits in the centre of each room.
His compatriot Tadao Ando chose to pay homage to the subtle aesthetics of Japan’s tea houses when designing his 18 rooms. The rooms radiate a soothing tranquillity and direct the eyes of those who stay here toward the alpine scenery of the mountainside across from them.
The US American Thom Mayne divided his focus between the materials wood and black stone as he designed the remaining 22 architect rooms. In 2016, he placed a free-standing shower stall in the centre of each room whose organic shape offers a three-dimensional experience of space.

GASTRONOMY
7132 Silver"
The hotel's fine-dining restaurant, seating 30 and run by Head Chef Mitja Birlo, has not only been awarded two Michelin stars but also 18 Gault&Millau points. In 2019, the German chef with the exotic name was moreover credited as the “Rising Star 2020” for the German-speaking part of Switzerland by Gault&Millau. He and his team create true taste sensations far beyond mainstream cuisine. Young but experienced, open-minded yet disciplined, at home in both Vals and the whole wide world: Things that seem to be incompatible at first glance playfully interact in Birlo’s universe. A native German, he takes his very own dynamic approach to cook his way to fame: He and his team often venture out into the hills of Vals to gather mushrooms, herbs and berries, drawing inspiration from nature herself. Bringing in lobster, caviar or local duck, for example, he creates dishes that blend luxury products with fresh local components.
7132 Red
Head Chef Tarek Soltani, awarded with 15 Gault&Millau points, serves classic dishes for up to 60 guests, using only the finest ingredients from the four corners of the earth. The rich Vals alpine breakfast includes bread baked fresh daily and home- made jams, a choice selection of freshly steeped teas and a wide variety of local and regional meat and dairy products. Setting a table that features authentic seasonal foods from this mountain hamlet is of the essence in the morning.

Chef de Bar Tony Lampis and his team offer a rich variety of cocktails and snacks in the heart of the 7132 lobby. Whether you fancy a light lunch, afternoon tea or an aperitif and drink accompanied by life music - the Blue Bar offers a unique ambience with alpine panorama any time of day.
7132 daPapà

The thoughtful furnishings and the black-and-white photographs on the walls bring to mind the masterpieces from the Cinecittà studios and the times of Federico Fellini.
7132 Glenner
Over Grisons barley soup or the fondue menu, prepared with Glenner’s own special blend, this place in the centre of town brings visitors and locals together in cosy conviviality. Rustic fare of the finest quality: the meat, of course, comes from the in- house butcher shop, and the nut gateau from the 7132 bakery.
7132 Coffee Shop magazines and home-made specialities from the 7132 bakery. A great place for spending extra time and selecting Vals souvenirs.

DESTINATION
With its famous hot springs, Vals is an idyllic place that helps its visitors to decelerate and find peace. Located at an elevation of 1,250 metres above sea level, it offers great hiking trails in the summertime and reliable snow cover on its ski slopes in winter. First written mention of the healing powers of the thermal waters of Vals dates back all the way to the 17th century. But it was not until the 19th century that physicians started to prescribe spa treatments in Vals to cure dermatological ailments. In 1964, the former sanatorium was converted into a spa hotel, a move that ushered in the shift from medical tourism to leisure travel.
A native of Vals eventually took over the hotel and thermal baths in 2012, a step necessitated by the urgent need to invest and by changing needs in tourism. The entire infrastructure was replaced and expanded in order to satisfy the expectations of today’s aspirational guests. Additional avant-garde building projects involving celebrated architects are already in planning that will consolidate the status of Vals as an architecture haven. Aside from its tourism revenues, the municipality derives its incomes from the mineral springs of Vals, which play a leading role on the Swiss market for mineral water.
