Day tour
Led by a tour guide, you will be amazed by the rich architecture and decor of the Palais Garnier. Your visit will begin with the “Rotonde des Abonnes” (Members’ Rotunda) which was formerly used to welcome the audience, and where you will be able to discover the unique signature of the architect Charles Garnier amongst the arabesques.
The mysterious Prophetess Pythia will greet you before you take the majestic “Grand Escalier” (Main Staircase), which brings you to the auditorium, the lounges and the foyers. The abundant decor, the splendour of the various foyers and the variety of materials used will take your breath away. The numerous paintings and sculptures allow the Palais Garnier to be not only a theatre but also a museum at the same time.

The Palais Garnier, being a show site, for technical or artistic reasons, we cannot guarantee systematic access to the Auditorium. An original proof of identity will be required as a deposit for earphones. For security reason, no left luggage is available at the Opera Garnier. Please note that FIT tours are available in French, English and Spanish.

After hours tour
Like all sumptuous and famous places, the Palais Garnier has its mysteries, myths and incredible stories. This is the angle from which we propose to approach this jewel of architecture. Your guide will narrate its history through the story of Erik, the mysterious man with a hideous face, more well-known under the name of the Phantom of the Opera. Having made the opera his home, the Phantom knows its entire history and can recount 1001 anecdotes and other curiosities. The short story by Gaston Leroux will thus serve as a thread throughout the visit, leading you beyond the great chandelier, stall No. 5 and the angel of the music, to reveal unsuspected splendours.

After hours tour of the Opera house’s public areas (when the Opera is closed to the general public). Please come before the doors shut to the public at 16:45. The Palais Garnier, being a show site, for technical or artistic reasons, we cannot guarantee systematic access to the Auditorium. An original proof of identity will be required as a deposit for earphones. For security reason, no left luggage is available at the Opera Garnier.

After having mentioned the former Holy Innocents’ Cemetery – which was decorated long ago with a continuous frieze of macabre art, the guided tour will end at the astrological and astronomical tower of the Black Queen. In fact, the magician at the service of Catherine de Medicis practiced black magic inside this tower. Some people say that his ghost still comes back to haunt the tower during stormy nights...

Very popular in the 19th century as an access way to the Grands Boulevards from the Palais Royal, the thirty remaining roofed passageways (formerly 140) enable you to plunge into a “time warp”, cut off from street bustle. Today, one can find all kinds of shops here, as well as some cafes and especially, the remnants of a recent past where strolling and parading oneself was an essential activity of daily life.

PARISIAN DISTRICTS

If you prefer to find yourself in a delightful interlude far from the incessant rhythm of traffic, the tour of Montparnasse awaits you.
And finally, do not hesitate to discover the “very Parisian” district of Bercy Village, where Parisians adore to spend time on terrace of cafés that took place of ancient wineries, the rests of the world biggest wine market of the XIXth century.
