Monaco, or as some people call it, Monte-Carlo, is the second smallest country in the world after the Vatican. But within this small state lies a wealth of culture and history.
Follow your private, family-friendly guide as he/she takes you to “Le Rocher”, one of the most beautiful neighborhoods of the city/country, perched on top of a cliff. This is where you will find its most iconic highlights as well as the old historical city of Monaco.
Start your discovery by walking towards the top of the hill, and listen to your guide as he/she tells you all about the exciting history of the Principality. Not only will you have the most beautiful view on the coastline from both sides of “Le Rocher”, but you will also pass by the Prince’s Palace of Monaco, where all the Princes and Princesses of Monaco have lived and rules, including Prince Rainier and Princess Grace Kelly!
Then, after a short walk inside the old town, you will enter inside the Cathedral built in 1878. Inside, not only will you be able to discover a fantastic architecture, but you will also see the final resting place of the American actress turned Princess: Grace Kelly.
Make your way towards the Oceanographic Museum, the third true highlight of Monaco. Acting as an active research center since it was built, the Museum was directed by the famous oceanographer Jacques Yves Cousteau for many years.
This 1,5 hour walking tour ends with an enjoyable stroll through the gardens before going back down.

Description:
One of the most iconic highlights of Monaco is its Oceanographic Museum. Built in 1878 right off the cliff of “Le Rocher”, the Oceanographic museum is not only a museum: it is also an active research center which was directed by famous oceanographer Jacques Yves Cousteau for many years.
The visit starts with the higher floors of the museum. Let your marine biologist tell you all about the underwater world and the birth of this world famous research center. You will learn about the history of ocean exploration and meet face to face with some of the most impressive creatures of the sea.
After about 20 minutes, you will head down into the aquarium. There is no better place to learn about marine ecosystems than the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco. Your marine biologist will explain how each species are interconnected and the effect of man on these fragile ecosystems. To make it truly unique, follow your guide backstage and discover the other side of the water tanks.
Finally, you will be lead to the tactile pool where an animator will let you touch some of the living organisms that can be found under water. A perfect way to introduce your family to the beauty and fragility of the oceans.
