1. THE FLOWERS OF HOLLAND

Flowers (and not just tulips) are a real part of the the Dutch culture, and for hundreds of years, the Netherlands have been the world capital for flower trading.
This fun-filled experience will have your and your children discover the world of flowers, from beginning to end. Just follow the family-friendly experienced guide and let him/her tell you all about how flowers are grown and how they are sold.
After meeting your guide and chauffeur at your hotel, hop on board luxurious, fully equipped Mercedes V-Class minivan and head out to the flower auction warehouse of Aalsmeer, where millions of flowers transit from all over the world. Follow your guide and walk above the busy working area. From this point of view, this place really looks like a busy ant farm! A great way to understand what the flower business is all about.
Hop back in the car after this 30min visit and head out to a local flower grower in the outskirts of Amsterdam. There, you will learn about how the flowers (mostly roses) are grown and how to keep your flowers at home beautiful and alive. During the flower season (in March only), you will pass by many flower fields and witness the beautiful colored horizon.
The guide and chauffeur will drop you off at the hotel at the end of this wonderful, family friendly Flowers of Holland activity.

2. THE STORY OF ANNE FRANK

Learn all about the touching story of Anne Frank through a tour featuring her childhood house, the family’s hiding place (the Anne Frank House) and the Holocaust Memorial.

Description:
Anne Frank was a German-born Jewish girl, and is one of the most emblematic victims of the Holocaust, as she acquired posthumous fame with her diary where she documented her life in hiding between 1942 and 1945.
Follow your guide and let him/her take you in the footsteps of Anne Frank and her family. After meeting with your guide and private driver at the hotel, hop into a private, fully equipped mini-van and head out to the house where she grew up. Although the inside of the house cannot be visited, your guide will tell you all about her life as a little girl in Amsterdam at that time, where she went to school and where she would play.
The tour continues with the visit of the Anne Frank House where she and her family hid from the Nazis during World War II. This house is one of the most popular touristic attractions in Amsterdam. The skip-the-line tickets will grant a quicker access to the house (although there will still be a bit of waiting in line for security – 10 to 15mn max), and each member of your family will get an audio guide (guides are not allowed inside the house) perfectly adapted to children aged 10 and up. Your guide will be there with you, but guiding inside the museum is considered rude, so he/she will be there to answer questions and point out the most interesting details.
Once back outside, you will be driven to a special café right next to the zoo. Both these areas have a highly symbolic and historical value in the story of Amsterdam during WWII. Inside the café, you will be able to enjoy a drink while your guide tells you more about the story of Anne Frank and the times she lived in.
The tour ends with the visit of the Holocaust Memorial in Amsterdam (Hollandse Schouwburg), where the Nazis gathered the Jews before putting them on trains to the concentration camps.
WARNING: The Story Of Anne Frank cultural tour is not suitable for children under 10. The reservations have to be made at least 2 months in advance for the Anne Frank House skip-the-line tickets. The order of the visits may be altered depending on the hour of visit of the Anne Frank Museum.

In a more modern room (for health issues), you will handle all the natural ingredients used to make the cheese: milk, salt and everything that derives from mixing all that. And during the few pauses in between each step of the process, you will get some pie and a hot (or cold) beverage. If you are lucky, and depending on the time, you might even get to feed the cows and calves.
You won’t be able to take your cheese back home (it needs time to mature), but you won’t be leaving this wonderful spot empty handed: each member of your family will get a similar cheese that you’ll be able to enjoy when you are back at the hotel or home.
