Arosa

Arosa, a traditional Swiss Alpine village situated at 1,700 m altitude, has a long standing reputation for its clean healthy air and mountain scenery.
Arosa is both a famous winter sports resort and a health resort for summer guests, relaxing through hiking or playing tennis and golf in the great outdoors.
Temperatures at Arosa can vary considerably, as is typical for this altitude. In bright sunshine the sky is of a deeper blue than elsewhere, but when it rains the snow line comes down quickly almost touching the village. Year by year our course participants are impressed by this spectacle of nature. Weather can also dramatically affect temperature, which can change from cool to quite hot in a short space of time.

Classes

Generally, 3 to 5 lessons at 40 minutes each are given every day from Monday to Saturday in the language chosen, including supervised study periods and regular conversational lessons. Courses always start on Monday; every new participant will sit a placement test and then be assigned to the class level that corresponds to their current level of knowledge. Grammar, vocabulary, and text comprehension are taught by experienced teachers, who are, for the most part, native speakers of the language they teach. At the end of the course, participants obtain a certificate.
The lessons, in small classes, are held either in rooms at the ARIANA hotel or in seminar rooms.

Languages: either English, French or German (as a second language) can be chosen.

Leisure programmes

Whenever the weather conditions allow, the ARIANA pupils spend their free time in the healthy outdoors. They love walking and hiking in the environs and practising sports such as swimming, football, volleyball, basketball, ice skating, as well as taking part in cultural and social events (football tournament, theme nights, smallbore shooting, house disco etc.). They can also use the infrastructure available in Arosa village and the nearby town of Chur.
Reservation must be made for changes to the programmes should unfavourable weather conditions prevail. Apart from the daily leisure programmes on offer, participants may also book for sports practice in tennis, horse riding, golf, water skiing, and ice skating.

Accommodation

For the duration of the courses ARIANA has the hotel at its exclusive disposal. Boys and girls are accommodated in well-furnished shared rooms (some of them double) with shower/WC en suite. Upon request, single rooms with en suite shower/WC will be made available.
Meals are taken at the rustic-style hotel dining room; on really warm days barbecues on the Upper Lake or on the shores of the Isla river (meandering across the beautiful Arosa mountain area) are organised.

All prices are per person.

Course participants who choose tennis as an additional sport may practise with other participants free of charge approximately twice a week. Lessons with the tennis coach will be charged in terms of the number of lessons given during the participant's stay (trainer tuition fee plus fee for use of court).

Cancellation policy

For cancellation of the course booking, a general handling fee of CHF 500.00 will be charged, to be debited against the deposit, plus an additional amount as follows:
– for cancellation up to 31 days before the start of the course 20%
– for cancellation 30 – 22 days before the start of the course 40%
– for cancellation 21 – 15 days before the start of the course 60%
– for cancellation 14 – 8 days before the start of the course 70%
– for cancellation 7–0 days before the start of the course or non-appearance 80 % of the course fees.
A handling fee of up to CHF 500.– will be charged for changes of bookings.
