GENERAL INFORMATION

Welcome to Surval Montreux, an exceptional international boarding School exclusively for girls, enjoying a spectacular Swiss setting.
Founded as an international boarding School for girls in Leysin by Mrs Georgette-F Andrea in 1961, the School started in a small chalet situated above the valley, which inspired the name "Sur-Val". Moving to its current home on the hill overlooking Montreux and Lac Léman in 1998, Surval continues to thrive.
Surval is an exceptional international boarding school for girls aged 12-19 where we seek to empower ambitious, globally competent young women who are entrepreneurial and adventurous in spirit and have the inner confidence to follow their own path.

SCHOOL YEAR

Studying at Surval is a very different experience to many other schools due to its small size and highly personalised approach which lends itself to lessons being more tutorial style. Surval classes are small, ranging from 2 to 10 students. This means students benefit from a great deal of individual attention from subject teachers and can progress at their own pace.

School Fees 2023-2024 cover the following:

• Class tuition
• Evening and weekend activities at School or locally
• Day excursions within Switzerland
• Loan of textbooks and other materials for class (unless girls wish to write in them)
• Use of facilities, library, and access to the Internet
• Accommodation and all meals
• Laundry (excluding dry cleaning)
• Provision of all linen
• Surval Sports programme

Payment Plan
Due dates for payments are as follows:
• Autumn Term: 02.06.23
• Winter Term: 27.10.23
• Spring Term: 02.02.24

Cancellation:
• The Application Fee is not refundable
• Autumn Term: till 30.04.23
• Winter Term: till 30.09.23
• Spring Term: till 06.01.24
• In case of expulsion, only the balance of the student’s Personal Account will be refunded
• If notice to cancel or withdraw is received after the Notice Deadline, parents will be required to pay the Tuition and Boarding Fees for the following term.

Tuition

The annual fee covers all educational courses and related items, activities, full board and lodging.

Personal Account

An account to cover students' personal expenses, managed by the accounting team. Parental consent for all additional trip costs will be sought in advance. A half-termly update on the Personal Account expenses and balance will be sent to parents. Parents will be contacted if a top up is needed to cover expenses.

Application Fee

A one-time fee paid upon application. This fee covers administrative costs and is not refundable under any circumstances.

Acceptance Deposit

A one-time fee to secure your daughter’s place at Surval. This fee is refunded within 3 months of leaving Surval as long as there are no outstanding charges. The deposit is non-refundable if enrolment is cancelled.

INCLUDED IN TUITION FEE:

• All academic classes and electives
• Support for Learning including individual academic support, academic clinics and EAL lessons
• All course materials and textbooks
• Individualised student profiling tests (academic and wellbeing) to enable tailored support, monitoring and target setting
• University and Careers Counselling programme Grades 10-12, including careers and university workshops and fairs, 1:1 professional counselling package, support with university applications, essay writing clinics, SAT and IELTS preparation
• Full board and lodging (accommodation and all meals), 7 days a week throughout term time
• Weekly sports electives (additional charges may apply for highly individualised programmes e.g. horseriding, sailing)
• Curriculum day excursions
• Weekend day cultural and sporting excursions
• House evening and weekend activities
• In-school clubs and societies
• In-school social events e.g. formal gala dinners, graduation and prizegiving
• Ski pass, ski equipment hire, and weekly group ski/snowboard lessons during the Winter Term, loan of Surval ski jacket
• Two adventure experiences: Swiss Alpine Adventure weekend in September; resort-based ski week in February
• Health and Accident Insurance
• Travel and Liability Insurance
• Comprehensive pastoral support through a dedicated team of residential staff
• Health care through the professional School Nurse who will also support with doctor and other medical appointments
• School uniform
• Swiss residence permit and communal taxes
• Stationery and photocopying
• Daily transport to and from Montreux at the end of the school day Monday-Friday
• Bed linen and towels are provided and laundered weekly
• Personal clothes laundry twice per week (excluding dry cleaning)
• Internet access

Personal Account (not included in the Tuition Fee) - optional expenses

• Weekly pocket money or Weekly amount on a UBS Youth Bank account (parent option)
• Pre-paid SIM card (parent option)
• Medical treatment not covered by health insurance e.g. dentist, orthodontist, external counseling
• Swiss half fare card (for students aged 16+)
• Geneva airport transfer (380 CHF)
• 1:1 private lessons (e.g.piano lessons, 1:1 language tuition - up to 120 CHF)
• Sports equipment and clothing required for chosen sport electives or trips
• Sports coaching outside core sports electives
• Optional residential trips (programme of weekend and holiday trips during the year) - range from CHF 900 CHF to 5,000 CHF per trip depending on duration and destination
• Optional weekend ski days and weekends - 150 CHF per day, weekends range from 800 CHF - 2,500 CHF - depending on location
• University application fees and external exam fees: SATs, IELTS, DELF, Pearson Edexcel IGCSE/A Level exams
• Replacement uniform items
• Legalised transcript on leaving
• Single Room (if available - G11-12 students 1,500 CHF per term)

Surval’s Summer Camp gives girls an unforgettable experience within unique and unmatched international setting. Girls have a choice of different camp themes and experience a varied and carefully selected range of activities in a fun, safe and nurturing environment.

Junior Camps
10-12 y.o.

• Activities in the morning, French classes in the afternoon (except on Lake Day)
• Junior Camp themes:
  • Junior Adventure Camp: Hiking, High Ropes, Scooting, Cycling, Surfing
  • Junior Art Camp: Culinary Arts, Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Daytrips
• Weekly Lake Day for all campers to enjoy water based activities and a barbecue

Senior Camps
13-17 y.o.

• French classes in the morning, activities in the afternoon (except on Lake Day)
• Adventure Camps:
  • Water adventure: Rafting, Sailing, Canyoning, Paddle Boarding, Surfing
  • Land Adventure: Karting, Climbing, Horse Riding, High Ropes
• Art Camps:
  • Visual Arts: Photography, Sketching, Painting, Design Workshop
  • Culinary Arts: In house cookery classes, Cheese experience, Chocolate experience, Salt Mines exploration
  • Performing Arts: Dance workshop, Chaplin World experience, Theatre workshop, Freddie Mercury Tour
• STEM Camp: CERN experience, Lab workshops, Local STEM excursions, Robotics workshop

Summer Camp Weekend Trips

Join the Weekend Trips to Europa-Park or Zermatt to make the most of your summer experience at Surval Montreux!

• Swiss Adventure Weekend: a unique experience at the heart of the Swiss Alps in the village of Zermatt overlooking the famous Matterhorn. Campers will enjoy hiking, a visit to the Glacier Paradise and cheese based traditional meals such as fondue and raclette.
• Fun Park Weekend: a weekend spent with your friends in one of Europe’s biggest amusement parks. Just a few hours away, Europa-Park has thirteen different roller coasters and around one hundred rides. You’ll be sure to make great memories on this fun-packed weekend trip.

Summer Camp Fees 2024

Minimum stay of 2 weeks. We highly recommend a stay of maximum 4 weeks.
