A Renaissance Romance in the Heart of Florence.
The Duomo, the Ponte Vecchio, Via de Tornabuoni… nowhere has neighbours like Hotel Savoy.
In pride of place on the Piazza della Repubblica, amongst the city’s leading landmarks, an iconic Florentine hotel. Dressed by Laudomia Pucci and Olga Polizzi, in signature prints and Renaissance antiques. Catered by Fulvio Pierangelini, in definitive Tuscan style. Filled with character, a breath of fresh air in a city steeped in history.
RESTAURANT
A celebration of Italian cuisine and regional ingredients, Irene brings Fulvio Pierangelini’s authentic dishes to the heart of Tuscany, mere steps from the Renaissance majesty of Florence’s famous Duomo.
Best known for his two Michelin-starred restaurant Gambero Rosso in San Vincenzo, Fulvio Pierangelini has worked with the head chef Giovanni Cosmai and Florence’s best, local suppliers to create a menu based on the Tuscan classics.
Changing with the seasons, according to what is gathered from the local markets, foraged in the Tuscan countryside, or sourced from artisanal suppliers in the region, the menu at Irene is a sensational expression of place with a passionate culinary philosophy at its heart. The dishes here are deceptively simple, each bite revealing the artistry of the chefs, the splendour of the ingredients.
Glamorous and inviting, Irene’s dining room is the ideal place to refresh and recharge during your time in Florence. Taste truffles in all their heady, perfumed glory, a few miles from where they’ve been foraged. Wind your fork around al dente spaghetti, sublimely tangled with fresh, local tomatoes softened and married with fragrant basil. Indulge in organic beef, or freshly-caught seafood, grilled on Himalayan Salt Stone.
BAR
Enjoy the sleek, sumptuous surrounds, both inside and out, with a well-crafted cocktail in hand. Gleaming with vintage mirrored accents and beckoning with buttery-soft leather, Irene Bar is a place to see, be seen and luxuriate in Florence.
Relax in Emilio Pucci-designed glamour on Irene’s exclusive outdoor terrace, looking out over the bustle of the Piazza della Repubblica, or settle into the intimate bar area to sip in sophisticated splendour.
Here, Champagne softly bubbles up from 50s-era coupe glasses and cocktails come stiffly, superbly mixed, with both classics and originals on the menu. Drinks like the Gin Blossom, a concoction of orange bitters, Lillet Blanc and apricot eau-de-vie fine gin, or the smooth My Orleans (Lillet Blanc, Courvoisier, fresh lime, honey syrup, and egg white) jostle for attention, while during aperitivo, the signature spritzes with Florentine accents reign supreme.
SPA
Hotel Savoy invites its guests to the exclusive newly launched Spa Suite, on the fifth floor of the hotel with breathtaking views of Florence. All the body and facial treatments have been created in collaboration with Officina Profumo Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella using the finest natural products.
Created as part of the celebration of the 800th anniversary of the Officina Profumo-Farmaceutica, The Spa Suite is situated across 2 floors decorated in soothing tones of yellows, golds and greys. On the upper level, guests can enjoy the relaxation area offering an unrivalled 180-degree view over the city’s Renaissance landmarks and Florentine hills. The up-close view of the Duomo from the elegant treatment room on the lower floor creates an experience that is unique, fascinating and intriguing: a combination of exquisite Florentine history with the best techniques of contemporary wellness.
Officina Profumo-Farmaceutica was founded by Dominican friars in 1221, the year of their arrival in Florence. They used medicinal herbs grown in the monastic gardens to make medications, balms and pomades for the monks' infirmary. This was the beginning of the long history of the Pharmacy, which is deeply linked to the cultural, scientific and philosophical advances of Florence in the 13th century.
Guests staying in the Hotel Savoy’s suites will also have access to the Officina's private tour: a visit to the historical home of the Officina in Via della Scala, in the heart of the pharmacy’s production premises.
